Water

Water is the source of life – let's save it for our future

Deceptively abundant water is becoming the Earth’s scarcest and most precious resource. 70% of the planet’s surface is covered with oceans, but in reality only 0.01% of the water on Earth is directly usable. Water is consumed irrationally and wasted all over the world. Poor waste management as well as the use of pesticides and other chemicals contribute significantly to the pollution of water and groundwater.

In the sub-Saharan regions where our activities are concentrated, water is drawn from groundwater. We pay attention to the flow rates so that they do not exceed the renewal speed. The water requirement for the population, for the production of biogas and compost as well as for the irrigation of crops is very important. This is why we collect rainwater and develop a fish farming activity so that we do not use drinking water except for drinking it. The water collected in this way from fish farming is very rich in nutrients for our use (production of biogas and compost).

The gray and black water coming from the composting platform or from the toilets / showers is also collected by a pipe system and treated in basins by filters and plants (phyto-purification). We thus avoid soil contamination and recover water for irrigation. “Nothing is lost, everything is transformed” (Lavoisier).
