Biogas

Biogas improves the quality of life of families

The main means of cooking in developing countries remains wood and charcoal. Every year, more than 4 million people die prematurely from illnesses attributable to household air pollution from cooking with solid fuels and kerosene (according to WHO studies, it is responsible for 40 to 60% of maternal and infant mortality in Africa). The intensive use of firewood for cooking food also leads to deforestation, the impact of which on the economy and the environment is not negligible.

The production of biogas, from the organic waste that we buy back, fits perfectly with the approach of a circular economy. We are thus offering local populations the opportunity to turn to biogas, a clean cooking energy. Converted into energy, the biogas then provides biofuels, heat or electricity. The residue it produces, the digestate, serves as a fertilizer. The biogas produced and distributed in our centers thus offers:

  • A replacement solution for cooking fuels for a better living environment ;
  • Support for the transition of the agricultural sector through the establishment of agro-ecological practices ;
  • The possibility of producing renewable energy replacing fossil fuels and contributing to a future 100% renewable energy system.
